DOT

How it works

Every .sol name on DOT is an on-chain asset, so trades settle directly between wallets.

01

Verify

Ownership is read from the Solana Name Service registry on mainnet — never from a database we control.

02

List

The seller signs a transaction moving the name into the official SNS marketplace program's escrow at a fixed SOL price.

03

Buy

The buyer signs one atomic transaction: SOL to seller, name to buyer. If either fails, both revert.

04

Settle

Listings are checked on-chain before purchase, preventing stale listings, double sales and price tampering.

Why not .com, .io or .ai?

DNS domains are controlled by registrars, not the blockchain. Their transfer can't be enforced by a smart contract, so DOT doesn't pretend otherwise.
